Medication errors can happen to anyone – and the consequences can be fatal.
Diva’s founder Judy Gaughan knows this only too well. A nurse with more than 25 years of experience in healthcare, she decided to innovate a solution to medication errors in healthcare after a family member was injured through an error in medication reconciliation. This launched a journey of discovery to find out the breadth and significance of the problem of medication error, and the best possible way to address it.
She found the facts: adverse drug events – poor drug interactions, often the result of lack of accurate information – account for nearly 700,000 emergency department visits a year. They are one of the most common preventable adverse health events in all healthcare settings. And no-one is immune.
Judy’s clinical background gives her key insights into how medication reconciliation operates from a healthcare perspective. With the help of T. Gerard Bennett, Diva’s Chief Technology Officer, and the insights of other clinical specialists, she began work on a product that would combine patient medication management with healthcare provider medication reconciliation.
This product was developed by nurses, with the sole mission of ensuring patient safety.
DIVA breaks new ground in not only empowering individuals to manage their medications, but in combining the efforts of patients and providers in medication management in new, integrated ways.

With over 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Judy has focused her career on developing innovative ways to treat pediatric patients with complex issues. Her most recent venture was as part of a team that developed and launched the Mayo Family Pediatric Pain Rehabilitation Center as a new model of care for children with chronic pain conditions. The program was presented at the National Institutes of Health in 2012 as a standard of care for this population. She has published and presented the program at national and international conferences.
T. Gerard BennettCo-Founder & CEO
Gerard is a seasoned professional in the software industry, with more than 30 years of experience both in Ireland and internationally. Most recently, he has been the CTO at an Irish software company focused on the development of an entirely new cloud-based SaaS CMMS. He has experience in start-up companies in Ireland, the United Kingdom, and the United States, focused on the banking, healthcare, and childcare sectors, and he has managed projects worldwide.
John (“Jack”) Faherty graduated magna cum laude from Suffolk University with a BS in Business Administration. Jack has spent all of his career with major corporate enterprises including Digital Equipment Corporation, and Siebe plc before moving to Senior plc where he served as VP & CFO of their Aerospace Division. He subsequently moved to Aramark when he led financial planning and analysis for their Uniform and Career Apparel Division. Jack has spent the last five years as CFO of an iconic, LA based non-profit, Homeboy Industries, where he helped grow the revenues by two-thirds through organic growth, new business start-up, and acquisition.
